Cambium connection?

My heart leaps, all is not lost.  Observations thus far:  Wait until after last frost dates or have a greenhouse, make fresh cuts in entire scion (I failed to do this for about 10), and don't be anxious to remove tape and foil when early growth is observed as more healing required.
